Feeding the Christmas Spirit Food Drive
Saturday, November 21 at White Oak Ukrop's
10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m.

Join Ukrop's and Supervalu in "Feeding the Christmas Spirit!" Get into the holiday spirit early by visiting the White Oak Ukrop's on Saturday, Nov. 21st from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. You can make food donations there to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank while enjoying live music by "Offering" and "River City." Gear up for the Christmas Parade with giveaways and more, plus the chance to win free tickets to the first season of Richmond's new baseball team, the Flying Squirrels.To donate online, visit www.cvfb.org.

 

Ukrop’s Grocery Bag Design Contest

Ukrop’s Super Markets, Inc. is pleased to present the 4th annual Ukrop’s Grocery Bag Design Contest. This juried contest is free and open to all Kindergarten through 5th grade elementary school students. The winning design will ultimately be reproduced on approximately 2 million grocery bags during April of 2010 to celebrate Earth Day.  The winning student will receive a $100 savings bond and a $500 donation to the school's art department.

This year's theme is Virginia's waterways. Ukrop’s has been committed to efforts to keep our region's water clean for many years through the donation of proceeds from the sale of Ukrop’s bottled water and compost to the James River Association and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. We are looking for one dynamic image that captures the importance of keeping our waterways clean and how we can all help. To enter the contest, click here for the guidelines and entry form.

Ukrop's/Supervalu Christmas Parade - Feeding the Christmas Spirit!

The 26th Annual Ukrop's/Supervalu Christmas Parade, featuring Grand Marshals the Harlem Globetrotters, is a must-see event! Bring the whole family and get into the Christmas spirit with festive floats, your favorite character balloons, and marching bands. For more information, visit www.richmondchristmasparade.org. This is a free event.

In keeping with this year's parade theme, you can also help “feed the Christmas spirit." by bringing nonperishable food items, benefiting the Central Virginia Food Bank. Just look for collection bins at the party stops or donate directly to float volunteers along the parade route. Or to donate online, visit www.cvfb.org.

Cafe Nights at Ukrop's

Looking for some fun activities to bring students and families together, all while raising funds for your school? Cafe Nights at Ukrop's is a way for schools in our community to raise funds for much needed supplies and school-based activities, just by eating at Ukrop's!

All elementary and lower grade schools in the areas served by Ukrop's are eligible to participate in Cafe Nights. Participation is easy! Just follow these simple steps:

• To sign up for a Cafe Night, an authorized representative from your school will need to stop by the Ukrop's Cafe location closest to your school and fill out a participation form. Schools may participate in up to six Cafe Nights per school year.
• Cafe Nights will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5-8pm. Only one school may participate per location per night, so be sure to stop by soon and get your school on our event calendar.
• Once your school signs up, Ukrop's will provide you with materials needed to promote the event to your students and their parents, as well as your faculty and administration.
• On your school's Cafe Night, we ask that you provide a representative from your school to stand near the cafe register and collect program vouchers and/or receipts from event participants. Purchases made by your school's attendees will be totaled at the end of the night, and your school will receive 10% of that total. Only purchases of ready-made food from Ukrop's kitchen, grill, salad bar and sushi bar will count towards your school's total.
• Within six weeks of your school's Cafe Night, you will receive a check for the total funds raised at Cafe Night.

Bag Donation Credits

On June 1 Ukrop's began donating 5 cents for every grocery bag a customer brought to the store to reuse to area food banks. As of September 5, Ukrop's shoppers reused 400,571 bags, making for a total donation of $20,028.55. SuperValu matched this amount, making the total amount donated to area food banks $40,057.10!

Ukrop's continues to donate 5 cents to area food banks for every bag our shoppers reuse. Shoppers may also opt to keep the 5-cent bag credit.
